Fashion Show and all systems go.
Cold wet miserable day yesterday - knackered and it's only MOnday. Played football at Bootle with the guys from work - great fun but I felt slow and lethargic. Dave Prentice, the Echo's chief sportwriter skipped past me time after time and I couldn't even get close. Would imagine nature trying to tell me something although Dave is probably older than I am.
Work piling up so had to go back to the office afterwards. Ok though - got a load of admin out of the way. At 7pm I packed up and went to Andrew Collinge's salon in Castle Street - the venue for the launch of the Aintree Looking Good Style contest of which the Echo is the media partner.
It was great - I hadn't been in the mood but I'm delighted I made the effort.
Aintree MD Charles Barnett was understandably anxious about the weather - it hits ticket sales. Otherwise he was in good form..the new building work is on schedule and he says the course is in fine nick. Put me right in the Aintree mood - I'm going on the Saturday and am hopeful of an invitation the first two days..it's a wonderful meeting and I'm really looking forward to it
Nice to meet Andrew COllinge. My friend Duncan Frazer from Finch Partnership introduced me and it was good to chat to a guy whose business has stuck with Liverpool through thick and thin. We spend a lot of time in the city encouraging new businesses and not enough supporting the established ones.
Champagne and canapes - sadly had to sip at a glass then clear off at 8.30 to pick up Harry from Everyman Youth Theatre. IT's all go - and a new computer system to put in at work next month. All singing, all dancing and all leading to the cancellation of Lynne and I's May holiday. She's dischuffed.

While I am around there will always be someone on that pitch who is even slower and more lethargic! And how come you can afford to leave such an exciting newspaper for three days to go racing?
