Bar review.
Morgan's birthday
COMPLAINTS. Ran into one from a bar in town which we reviewed for our Food and Drink section.
It was less than favourable and the owners were distraught.
Always a hard one; same with restaurant reviews.
The Echo's first concern has to be for readers who may go to these places. If readers are going to spend their hard-earned cash, then we need to present them with an honest appraisal of a place.
Equally, we've always got to be aware that one damning paragraph in the Echo can cause enormous impact upon a small business. I've known unfavourable restaurant reviews actually close places down.
And we need to remember that anywhere can have an off night. Al;though given the plethora of choices now available across Merseyside they would be ill-advised to do so.
Punters, and I'm one of them, lack the patience or the indulgence to give a place second chance if they've had a disappointing experience. They simply don't need to.

Perhaps a solution would be that if anywhere received a panning then we would pay a return visit within three months?
I'd welcome anyone's views on this....
