ICDT Comedy festival

Interesting series of presentations yesterday. Phil Blything from the International Cntre for Digital Content in Edge LAne and two of the businesses that have supported came to talk to us about new software taht may have applications within out business.

Our transition from print-only to multi-media is taking place at a phenomenal rate and its essential we stay close to the very latest developments.

ICDC at Edge Lane acts as a hot-house development facility for businesses with great digital ideas. Some of the stuff they are doing takes the breath away.

Had to miss the first meeting of the Liverpool Comedy Festival Creative Group because I wanted to accompany Lynne for her MRI scan. I am chairing the Festival committee this year and I think something world-class is a real possibility if the city gets behind it.

My Assistant Editor Andrew Edwards stepped in for me at short notice and said it was a good meeting with some fantastic ideas emerging. Liverpool should be the World's comedy capital.

Lynne had her scan but they didn't tell us a thing. Need the consultant to see the XRays. Hopefully he'll ring today.

Stopped off at lovely new wine bar called Wro in West Kirby on way back from hospital. Had two glasses of wine. tempted to drink more when I got home but resisted.

I'm Alastair Machray, editor of the Liverpool Echo. I believe, I truly believe, it's Britain's best paper in Britain's best city. And I'm so proud to be here.

After 26 years is the business I'm happier than ever. Every morning I jump out of bed looking forward to work (well, mostly). Home? It's a war zone.
