Dec 18 2006 Birthday Blues

Morgan, Lynne, Sian, chicken

IT was Lynne's birthday on Saturday. She's had a week of being blasted with steroids as her consultant tries to stabilise her MS symptoms and the net result was that she was pretty wasted by the weekend.

It was the big company bash at the Pan American Club on Saturday night but there was no way Lynne was going to be up to that. We tried to go out for a quiet meal with friends but after an hour she was desperate to go home. She tried to put a brave face on it (Lynne right, with pal Carole) as you can see from the picture.

Our friends were great about it and hopefully things will get better when the steroids kick in.

Morgan now has cough and cold as secondary infection after chicken pox. Spectacular night of earache on Saturday. Took her downstairs and she eventually fell asleep in my arms.

She slept until 8.15am on Sunday which was, for me, a glorious lie-in.

Sunday papers brought news of Lib-Dem MP Lembit Opik leaving weather girl Sian Lloyd to shack up with one of the Cheeky Girls. You couldn't make it up.

Felt so sorry for Sian, who is a friend of mine from my time as editor of the Welsh Daily Post. She is a woman of enormous dignity and style and she deserves better than this.

Made Hunter's Chicken - an old recipe of my mum's - for dinner on Suanday night. Everyone said it was bland.
