Media Partnerships
The 08 effect is certainly showing. All of a sudden everyone is coming up with great ideas for events and projects. It took a while for people to shake off the belief that the Culture Company would organise everything and all they had to do was sit back and watch it happen.
The departure of the bewildering Robyn Archer was the signal to the City's Cultural Community, and indeed the City at large that 08 was there for the taking and just waiting for their fresh and exciting brainwaves.
As a company the Echo has had many such ideas, and we will be putting them into practice over the next two years.
Many others have come to us with their own projects, anxious to tie in with us, realising that their schemes can only survive and thrive through the oxygen of publicity.
Sadly we can't support them all. Space in the Echo is a precious commodity and if we supported every great idea thrown our way then we wouldn't have space in the paper for a single news story.
And some organisations are slow to understand that there's a world of difference between publicity for a genuine news story and a out-and-out advert.
Today's in-box brought three new 'offers' for the Echo to become a media partner. Partnership indicates equal value to each party, in my book at least.
Test match so depressing. And I have a cold. And it's raining. And I'm on a diet. And it cost me £8 to park in Queens Square on Saturday night.
Christmas spirit?
Not yet matey!
How about you?
