Thailand holiday
First day back at work after spectacular week in Thailand. Right up until the last moment I was in two minds over whether Lynne was well enough to travel.
In the end we took a gamble and she came. It paid off. She/we had a fantastic time. She was only ill once and it cost her about half a day.
Largely, she chilled at the hotel; soaked up the sun, wandered around looking at the wildlife. I managed a couple of days of that before getting bored and heading off into town.
We stayed at the Tongsai Bay beach resort which was luxurious and extraordinarily beautiful.
It was ten minutes by taxi to Chaweng, a beach town bubbling with the many and varied elements that make up the melting pot that is Thailand. I loved it.
We ate great food, had a few drinks, did a little shopping, walked on the beach. I even managed two training sessions to keep me on course for next month's half marathon attempt.
Will bore you with photographs tomorrow.
Back at desk. Summer Pops under threat, a stabbing at Lime Street. In-tray has a dinner invitation from Gordon Brown and a union grievance.
Morgan's school parents' evening tonight, Harry wanting money for school exchange trip.
Warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand seem a long way away.

Alistair, glad you had a great time. The place is the absolute business isn't it?
The real world will never look quite the same again!
