England match. Fans or foes?
Worked all night Tuesday so dived off earlyish yesterday to see kids. Ended up as bollocking for Harry for some bother he'd got into at school and watching Morgan sleep on the couch. Talk about quality time!
Settled down to watch England match just as Morgan woke up. She spent the next hour and a half irritating me by standing on front of the telly. Which probably wasn't a bad thing considering the first 45 minutes was the most embarrassing shambles I can remember witnessing.
We were playing the continent's equivalent of the Isle of Wight and we didn't look like scoring.
The argument raged at editorial conference this morning: the England fans who tore into Steve McClaren and his team...are they despicable or justified in their behaviour?
I say justifiable. They've taken time off work and paid good money to watch that crap. I don't hold with this attitude of love for one's team being expressed by unqualified support. It's neither logical nor, ultimately, helpful.
Other disagreed, saying the fan's vitriol is over the top and contributing to the poor performance.
Views?
And thank God for Stevie Gerrard. Huyton 3, Andorra 0. Actually, Hoylake could probably have beaten Andorra.
Well done to the Echo's columnist Pete Price for his Sony Award nomination for his phone-in show on Radio City. Fitting recognition of years of service and listener-comes-first attitude.

Ali,
Top effort upon completing your first half!
Looked at your photos and can't say that I recognise you - but will be keeping a lookout now.
No running for me til Thursday - off to London for a family sight see.
