Trip into town

Took a trip into town yesterday in desperate bid to beat the egg run. The egg run, when Wirral becomes the magnet for thousand upon thousand of motorcycles from across the region, is a great spectacle.

I do though, resent being a prisoner in my own home as it's virtually impossible yo drive one's car around the peninsular.

Harry was an active egg runner - on the back of his Grandfather's Harley Davidson.

So that left Lynne, Morgan and I to get up bright and early and head for Liverpool before the motorcyclists set off.

And a lovely time we had too. The weather of course was perfect, and that always displays any city in a favourable light.

But I did feel, as we strode through Exchange flags and into Castle Street, that the city is looking cleaner, smarter, more inviting.

Lord Street and Chruch Street are still pock marked with road works but as Grosvenor takes shape you can begin to see how fantastic it all could be.

The Metquarter was stylish and splendid too (and Moirgan loves the escalators).

The highlight though, was lunch at the new Restaurant Bar and Grill in Brunswick Street. I had a nice invitation to join them at a private lunch pre-opening, but couldn't make it.

Yesterday, as a paying cutomer, was knocked out, by the elegance, the modernity, the quality of the food and the service.

I felt like I was in New York.

Loved it.
