june 19 2007 comedy birthday Heswall
Comedians, growing old, golf.
Well done to the 10 fantastic young people who performed in the final of Stand Out, the young comedian of the year contest sponsored by the Echo and 02 at the Comedy Festival on Monday night.
Sheer guts and some real talent. I was a judge, along with the ultra-glamorous Suzanne Collins, ex-Brookie and soon to be back at the Royal Court Theatre in Brick Up the Mersey Tunnels.
Suzanne, a great mate of the Echo - is looking forward hugely to the show's second run. It was a triumph last time and I'd urge everyone who hasn't already booked to get along and enjoy.

Nice day on Saturday when my pal John Griffith asked me to play golf in Heswall Golf Club's invitation Day.
Tried desperately to be sparkling company at dinner afterwards to make up for playing like an idiot earlier on.
Probably failed but John, Anne and all at Heswall made us thoroughly welcome. Lynne had fun but tired pretty early. One of her MS wobbly days.
Forty Six today. 'Wow,' said Morgan when I told her how old I was, 'that's Amazing!'
Had cake but didn't eat as on diet again. Weight piling on since training for and running Liverpool Half marathon finished. Ran two miles and felt ok. First time on the roads for ages.
