June 14 2007 Maddie

Maddie search Est Est Est

Maddie back on the front pages today. Saw the newsbreak online when I got up this morning and we were already working on it as a page one splash when I got to the office.

Difficult one for us. Is it really a big new breakthrough? The reason there is far more detail in the public domain is that it is as a result of a letter sent to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf and they have naturally printed the bulk of the contents.

So we'd question whether it is any more promising than the thousands of other leads Portugese police have followed up but not released any level of detail on.

But it is a huge talking point and does appear to be taken very seriously. The next few hours will tell.

This story has affected me (and millions of others) on a personal level. I have a daughter the same age is Madeleine and we were in The Algarve just a few miles from Praia De Luz when she was snatched.

I pray for a happy conclusion. But what would the worst-case scenario be for her poor parents and grandparents?

To find a body but to know the truth? Or to never find anything. Ever. And never know.

Pleasant dinner at Est Est Est at the Albert Dock. Truly beautiful inside now. Fun people and nice food. Dock has a great chance now that Grosvenor will close the gap between the city centre and the waterfront.

I imagine many more top leisure brands moving in and the whole place taking a quantum leap.

I honestly can't say what the best scenario for the parents would be. All i can say is that as a parent i really feel for them. My son, me and my wife all pray for them on a regular basis and are desperate for them to have a happy ending although i have grave concerns this will now happen.
There are some terrible people in this world and quite frankly crimes of this type should in my eyes be punished with the death penalty. I would quite happily take an eye for an eye if it was my child.
All i can say is i wish the Mcanns all the best and hope and pray that a fellow Baby blue Nose gets returned safe and well where she should be. At home with her lovely family.
