June 28 Site launch, Herbert
Launch of our revamped website yesterday. Big project involving design team in Canray Wharf and our own people in here.
Went ok, depsite one or two technical problems. Sod's law. Stuff that works well all year starts to mess you around when you need it most. Just got to stay philosophical and, as the sports psychologists say, control the controllables (which I thinks means if there's nothing you can do, then don't worry about it).
Site looks great though. It's far easier to navigate, offers more interaction and more content.
Now we need to ensure we are updating around the clock, adding a new dimension to our news and sport and ensuring it's a massive, evolving, living, breathing Echo 24 hours a day.
Went to Herbert the hairdresser's reception at his new salon last night. Aptly named the Bling Bling Building (for which the Echo he says, get some of the credit) it is a monument to his sense of the extravagant.

He may be an exotoc creature with a well-honed sense of self publicity but the substance behind the style is impressive. He built up a multi-salon empire after launching his first business with £100 when he was still a teenager.
He provides sophisticated training which gives opportunities to hundreds of young Merseysiders and he's a massive supporter of local charities.
Left quite early as Lynne wasn't able to stand for long, (thanks Pete Price for getting her a stool) so couldn't really enjoy the fashion show. As we walked back to the car she offered her own fashion commentary on some of the stunning young women paying Herbert homage at The Bling Bling.
''Some of them may have fantastic figures but they'd look even better in a smart suit instead of those supertight dresses or micro minis,'' she suggested.
'You're right love,'' I lied.
