Summer Pops. Disney shock

Productive meeting with Summer Pops promoter Chas Cole last night. Most of the concerts are selling well and we made some plans for some features to support what should be a great Festival.

I was delighted that the Echo could come to the aid of the Pops and that our sponsorship ensured the event went ahead.

This year won't have the famous old tent, but Aintree should be a great venue for transport and is only a staging post until next year when the Liverpool Echo arena will be open and available.

It's an amazing music summer with the Knowlsely Festival in a couple of weeks, the Pops, Mathew Street and Creamfields to come. I can't imagine there's been a year like it.

The Echo is planning something spectacular to mark it - so watch this space.

I'm Alastair Machray, editor of the Liverpool Echo. I believe, I truly believe, it's Britain's best paper in Britain's best city. And I'm so proud to be here.

After 26 years is the business I'm happier than ever. Every morning I jump out of bed looking forward to work (well, mostly). Home? It's a war zone.
