War on Terror

There was never much doubt what would happen when Tony Blair took us to war without a United Nations mandate.

Liverppol and Glasgow this weekend is what happens when we set ourselves up as Sheriff George Bush's deputy and tackle the blackhats of world terrorism.

Of course it is good that Saddam Hussein was deposed. The man was a monster.

Yet he had no weapons of mass destruction.

He's gone and what remains is a daily bloodbath in Iraq where the victims are both British soldiers and Iraqi civilians.

He's gone and what remains is a British society that lives on its nerves and avoids catastophe through sheer good fortune and the wits of its intelligence services.

Perhaps Mr Blair should have outlined the future a little more vividly before he enlisted us all in the crusade.

I think more of us would have been against it if we had been in full possession of facts.... Spin now has a funny wasy of masking facts and confusing our opinions....

After 26 years is the business I'm happier than ever. Every morning I jump out of bed looking forward to work (well, mostly). Home? It's a war zone.
