Nov 29 Poor Man's Michael Parkinson

I was on stage at the World Museum, Liverpool last night as the straight man for Phil Redmond. It was one of these '..in conversation with' events and I was asking the questions.

Phil is a polished performer. He thinks on his feet (or in this case in his leather armchair) and knows when to be serious and when to have some fun.

I think it probably went ok. He dead-batted a question from the audience on local politics which was a shame. Could have been fun.

During our chat Phil confirmed what he'd told me on a previous occasion. The definition of a true Scouser is someone who uses the phrase 'Worth a try' at least three times in every day.
Right? Wrong? Do you have a better definition?

I asked which area of the UK produced the most professional footballers per head of population. John Griffith answered North Wales on the basis that it has a small population but lots of quality professional footballers going back to the days when Liverpool and Everton would always feature at least one in the first team.

Anyone know better?
