Dec 28 Theatre Curry New York

Dec 28 Theatre choker. Curry disappointment. New York trip.

Gutted.

Here we were in the foyer at The Royal Court Theatre having had fun taking Morgan to see Cinderella panto and dragging Harry along too.

Morgan was in a 'running off' mood and a well-meaning member of staff blocked one of her surges for freedom.

'No, don't go up there honey,' she told Morgan patiently. And gesturing towards Lynne and I she added: 'Stay over there with your Nan and Grandad'.

I thought it was funny and laughingly told her we were actually mum and dad. She was mortified and dug deeper in a gallant bid to apologise. 'Well my mum and dad look like you and they've got a grandchild,' she said. It wasn't helpful.

I am 46 and look every day of it. Probably more besides. I was happy to take it on the chin.

Lynne though, suicidal.

Harry gleeful.

Followed up by visiting Mayur, the swish new Indian restaurant in Duke Street, about which I'd heard much.

Have to say I was underwhelmed by the food. Anyone think differently? Or has a view on the best Indian food in Liverpool? Let me know.

Thanks to Greg for his suggestion that we do The Sopranos tour next week when Harry and I are in New York. we are Sopranos devotees and we'll take your advice.

Thanks to to Crabbers who advises we bin off the Empire state Building and take in a the view from the top of the Rockefeller Centre instead - 'better experience and shorter queues' he attests. Sound suggestion - when Lynne and I were in NY a few years back we abandoned the Empire State trip due to horror queues.

Any more thoughts welcome.....and any advice on where we might catch the Newcastle United v Man City game (19.45pmGMT) game on January 2 would be greatly appreciated.

Have to disagree - I think the food at Mayur is fantastic, if a little expensive.

I took some friends who were visiting from London for lunch there, and they enjoyed it too - along with the river front, The Phil's toilets and the magnificent Anglican cathedral!

The best Indian restaurant I've tried in Liverpool is the Sultan's Palace on Victoria Street. I've visited so many times and the staff are wonderful.

We went for my dad's birthday one time and they ran out to buy him a cake.

The food is the kind you have to finish no matter how full you are.
Otherwise, you'll be sat at home later thinking about the bit you left and wishing you could have it back NOW!
