jan 31 2008 Beetham Tower Lynne Curry

Had to miss a trip to theatre last night. Was planning to see Three Sisters on Hope St at Everyman but Lynne still really groggy after chemo so I went home.

Nice to listen to Morgan, 5, doing her homework. She is genuinely reading now - always strikes me as one of life's miraculous joys when a child learns to read.

Harry praised at school for having 'well-organised homework diary'. Unbelievable. Harry and organisation are ill-suited bedfellows.

New Panorama restaurant opens at Beetham's West Tower tonight. Am committed to another function so can't attend but am looking forward to seeing it and its views. I think that tower is a real symbol of the city's change in fortunes.

I know hi-rise has attracted its critics - but I love it. I know Liverpool and its traditional buildings are way older than New York and New York's, but hi-rise doesn't seem to have harmed that city.

New eating out guide praises the Gulshan as the only place to get a decent curry in Liverpool. Views, anyone?

Another transfer window draws to a close and no signings at Newcastle. Return of King Kevin beginning to look a bit shabby. Someone, somewhere give me a strand of hope to cling to.
