jan 23 2008 Opening (3)

Had fantastic time at the Number One Project concert at the Echo Arena on Saturday.

Was unsure how it would go because the promoters had had difficulty persuading some acts to take part.

In the end I thought it was a triumph. Loads of energy, fantastic songs and loads of raw Liverpudlian emotion.

Someone I spoke to afterwards suggested to me that it would have been a bettter opening concert than the actual opening concert.

Anyone else subscribe to that view?

Hoping to sit down next week with organisers of the MTV Awards to get a handle on what the event(s) will mean for the city.

I am told by people who were at the awards in Copengahen and Munich that the whole place just becomes party city.

Any intelligence anyone can offer would be appreciated. Will this be huge? Will Liverpool come to a standstill?
